PAINT in ISRAEL
In May of 2014 I was selected to be a member of the International Conservation Team in Israel serving as a paint & color consultant to the team while learning preservation of hand-painted frescos. I studied under Shai Farquash, lead conservator of the Israel Antiquities Authority. This lead to a lot of time on scaffolding! But I've never been so honored to scrape paint--even flaking paint is holy in Israel. Projects I worked on included conservation of frescos in the old city of Jerusalem, Ceasaria, Akko and Tel Aviv. The project was supported in part by The Israel Antiquities Authority and UNESCO.
